Bring on the Bling…

New Year's Eve
Happy New Year White Owl Fashionistas!
Sorry for my hiatus on blogging, but I came down with a terrible cold during the holiday season. My annual cold is always a special gift I receive every year at this time *raises and shakes fist in the air*
Don’t you just love the old New Year’s picture circa 1950’s? That was the time when women and men dressed up all the time and made sure their hair was perfect. The man with the fez hat on, just made the picture that much more fun.
I don’t officially own a sequined dress for New Year’s. I would probably own one similar to the sequined dress featured above, along with a fuzzy purse and glittery kitten heels. Note to self, must find one… Usually my hubby and I go to a party to ring in the new year, but instead we had a quiet evening with the three of us: my cold, me and hubby sipping champagne and watching Rockin’ new year’s eve with Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest….ew, Seacrest.
Below is a clothing item I got for Christmas, a tweed jacket. I always wanted one, but was never satisfied with either the fit, color or texture of the ones I came across. Then I saw it, all alone on a hanger, waiting for me to try it on. At first sight, I thought it was conservative and dowdy, then when i tried it on, it fit me like a glove and I knew it was meant for me. It also has a bit of sparkled bronze thread that runs through it, which I love.
Tweed jackets are the perfect complement for winter. You can dress it up or down, depending on how you feel. Below I am wearing a more dressed up, party look. I really think every woman should own one as a staple in their closet. It will give your outfits a sense of understated elegance and channel your inner Coco Chanel….sigh….wish I could afford a Chanel jacket.
Notice my nails? They also have gold bling on them as well. I received three boxes of these for Christmas. They are wonderful presents in my opinion. If you haven’t tried the Sally Hansen salon effects nail polish strips, you really should. They are available at most drug stores, Target, Walmart and are quite easy to apply and supposedly last 10 days…I am on day three now and the chips are minimal.
Here are more full shots of what I am fully wearing:
Thought I would raise a glass of champagne to my readers and say “out with the old year, in with the new…may it be the best year ever for all of us.”
This is the first part of my blog about the tweed jacket, will follow up with other ways to wear this item.
I would appreciate any comments you may have. Don’t be shy, please feel free to post! 🙂
All the best,
White Owl
